In my story, ATEMCO’25 was the place where the person who had once arrived at their first conference scared, came back as a member of the Executive Board. A year ago, I was a member trying to understand the people around me and my department. This time, I came to the conference as an elected Executive Board member of the TM&MXP Department for the new term, carrying more responsibility and, with it, more fear. Because it wasn’t just my role that had changed. Throughout that year, I had experienced a lot. I had been through many moments where I struggled and questioned myself. But I was still standing.
The person who had once arrived at their first conference, scared and trying to get to know people, was now standing in the same place a year later, thinking about their own team, their department, and their future. ATEMCO’25 reminded me of something: Sometimes, you don’t realize that you’ve grown. Until you meet the person you were a year ago, in the exact same place. I was still learning. I was still scared. But now, I knew that I could keep moving forward even when I was afraid.
